Disadvantages of Surgical Abortion
The procedure is invasive and may cause some pain or discomfort. If a patient chooses to use IV sedation or general anesthesia, one is drowsy or “woozy” after the procedure and will require someone to drive you home. The sedation may also cause short-term nausea and vomiting. There is a small risk of complications which are uncommon and major complications are very rare.
