Confidentiality
Security and confidentiality are major concerns. Confidentiality is one of our highest priorities. Every member of our staff is acutely aware of the sensitive nature of our services. For example, we never provide information to anyone on the telephone without verification and authorization.
We comply with all the laws and regulations governing confidentiality including HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act). The HIPAA forms in which you can specifically designate who has access to your medical information are available in our office.
We also have a confidential filing system in which your medical record does not have a name label and your record is maintained in a secure, locked file. Furthermore, our patients’ medical records are not accessible through the web. Being a private practice and not an abortion clinic allows us to provide the utmost privacy and individualized care.
We work closely with law enforcement agencies to enhance the security of our patients and our office. Because our office is located within the walls of a busy medical complex, our patients enter the building as part of the general traffic and cannot be distinguished from anyone else – other patients, visitors, medical staff – who are coming into the building.
Since patient privacy is primary in our practice, we have designed our office with two waiting rooms – our larger waiting room for friends, family and support people and our smaller waiting room for each woman who is waiting to be seen.
The best way to come to our office is to park in the free on-site parking lot adjacent to our building, or to be dropped off at the front door by a friend. Either building entrance will bring you to our suite. We ask you in advance to be patient with our security procedures.
Women will notice some of our security measures such as our locked door with a doorbell and speaker system. Other security measures are not as easily seen, but they are working for you and the staff nonetheless.
