History
The staff of Freedom of Choice has been serving women in our community 
for many years. Over the years we have accomplished an outstanding and proven record of safety with an exceptional level of medical care. Our practice pioneered medical abortion throughout the 1990s when our physician was one of the principal investigators for the clinical trials, leading to the FDA approval of RU486, the French abortion pill, also known as mifepristone. (Refer to published articles on RU486 in JAMA and J Fam Pract.) This was when we were known as South Avenue OB/GYN Group and were located inside Highland Hospital (1000 South Avenue). However, medical or surgical procedures are no longer provided at Highland Hospital.
It is important not to confuse us with other providers or abortion clinics in this area. We consider ourselves experts in both medical and surgical abortion, 
having provided services to thousands of patients not only locally but nationally. We have earned the trust of the medical community and numerous physicians in the Rochester and surrounding area who refer patients to us. We have also been recognized by NOW (National Organization for Women) for “Service and Devotion to Uphold and Advance Women’s Reproductive Rights.”
